The shape of the earring is hand cut out of silver and then powdered glass, known as enamel, is sifted on top of the silver. This is then placed in a kiln that has been heated to 1450 degrees Fahrenheit (it's hot!). The enamel then fuses to the silver. This process is repeated several times until the desired result is achieved (in my case, usually 3-4 times).
 
All of my earrings are counter enameled which means the backside of the earrings have been enameled as well.
